This lecture series, co-organized by the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics and Wright State University, is supported by the Science & Technology Organization.

Predicting hypersonic flows requires CFD methods that remain accurate and robust in the presence of extreme physics, including strong shocks, pronounced thermochemical nonequilibrium, turbulence, gas-surface interactions, and multiscale coupling. This Lecture Series brings together leading researchers to share best practices and emerging methods in hypersonic modelling and CFD. By the end of the week, participants will have grasped the capabilities and limitations of current tools, understood the direction the field is heading, and gained practical guidance on applying state-of-the-art CFD to design and assessment across space and defense programs.

The registration is free of charge.

Registration Deadline: 23 November 2025.

Sunday 30 November 2025

13:00 - 17:00 For lecturers and registered attendees who will already be in town on Sunday, we are organizing a guided tour of the National Museum of the United States Air Force (https://www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/) led by Prof. Huang (WSU). If you would like to join, please contact Dr. Federico Bariselli at federico.bariselli[at]vki.ac.be.
